Greensboro College Elects Nasir Assar Chair of the Department of Business Administration & Economics
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Nasir Assar, associate professor of business administration at Greensboro College, has been elected chair of the Department of Business Administration and Economics in the School of Business.
Assar was appointed to the faculty in August. Previously, he had been a member analyst of the Social Media Research Foundation. In Spring 2018 he also was an adjunct professor of economics at High Point University.
Between 2013 and 2018 he was a faculty member and interim program director at South University in High Point, teaching MBA graduate courses, working on the curriculum development committee to develop such specializations as Finance, Human Resource Management, and Digital Marketing, and leading a team of 15 faculty members to develop 13 hybrid on-ground/online MBA courses.
He also has worked as a financial advisor for insurance and asset-management companies, as well as running his own advising firm in Jamestown from 1988 to 2017.
His teaching experience also includes teaching at Phoenix University from 2011 to 2012, at N.C. A&T State University from 1989 to 1996, at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1988 to 1989, and at Glenville State College from 1985 to 1988.
He holds a B.A. in accounting from the Iranian Banking College in Tehran, Iran; an MBA from Marshall University; and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from West Virginia University.
