Greensboro College Theatre Presents One-Man Truman Capote Show “Tru” Jan. 10-12
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College Theatre presents “Tru,” a one-man show about the late author and celebrity Truman Capote, 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Jan. 10-11, and 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 11-12, in the Annie Sellars Jordan Parlor Theatre in Main Building on campus.

“Tru” is adapted from the words and works of Truman Capote by Jay Presson Allen and directed by Associate Professor Wm. Perry Morgan Hall.
Starring senior theatre/acting major and contemporary dance minor Jackson Leo Gemborys of Durham, N.C., as Capote, “Tru” depicts Capote in his New York City apartment the week before Christmas in 1975.
An excerpt from Capote’s infamous, unfinished novel “Answered Prayers” recently has been published. Having recognized thinly veiled versions of themselves, Manhattan socialites turn their backs on the man they once considered a close confidant. Alone and lonely, Capote — soothing himself with pills, vodka, cocaine, and chocolate truffles — muses about his checkered life and career.
The Greensboro College Department of Theatre seeks to provide a strong foundation in theatre while allowing the student to emphasize in a particular area of theatre.
The coursework is integrated with the production work to provide a better understanding of the many facets of the theatre. Required participation on stage or backstage on all theatre productions allows the techniques and theories that are examined in the classroom and the laboratory to be tested in a performance setting.
Depending upon their emphasis of choice, upon completion of the degree, students will be prepared to enter graduate school or a theatre conservatory, intern full-time with a theatre organization, teach theatre or seek careers in the profession.
