Audition Information
How Do I Become a Theatre Major?
The process for admission into the Theatre Program requires an audition or portfolio review and an interview by members of the theatre faculty. These requirements ensure that a candidate understands the requirements of the major and allow the faculty to review the candidate’s talent as well as his/her interests, intent, and career goals.
- Apply and be accepted into Greensboro College.
- All prospective theatre majors must audition and interview prior to acceptance into the theatre program. Because of the competitive nature of the theatrical business, all applicants may not be accepted into the theatre program.
- Contact Professor Wm. Perry Morgan-Hall to schedule an appointment to audition and interview for the Theatre Department faculty.
Audition/Interview requirement
All Theatre majors are required to complete an audition and an interview and provide a headshot, resume, and two letters of recommendation (at least one from a theatre teach or director). Concentration-specific requirements are listed below.
- Acting and Musical Theatre concentrations must provide:
- Two memorized contrasting one-minute monologues
- Two contrasting songs from Classical American Musical Theatre Literature, with sheet music in the correct key
- Costume, Design/Technical, Directing, Stage Management, and Theatre Education
- Presentation of an updated portfolio of theatre materials related to student’s work
