Ruchi Upadhyay
Dr. Ruchi Patel Upadhyay is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the School of Business. Before arriving at Greensboro College, she taught for many years at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She holds a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees in Economics, and she earned her Ph.D. (Economics) in 2016. Dr. Upadhyay’s research focuses on gender, innovation, and development. Her research interests include economic development, banking and finance, health economics, and labor economics.
She has published eleven research papers in numerous scholarly journals, including the articles, “Augmenting Women Empowerment: a Systematic Literature Review on Microfinance-led Development Interventions” in the Journal of Global Responsibility (Emerald Publishing Limited) and “Review of Microfinance-led Development: Evidence from Gujarat” in the Global Social Welfare (Springer International Publishing).
Her research has been presented at several academic international and national conferences in India and the United States, including, The Women and Gender in Development Conference at Virginia Tech University, the International Scientific Forum at UNC-Pembroke, and the Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Labor Economics. She loves to spend time with family and friends and enjoys hiking and cooking.
