Robert Graham

Robert Graham is an Assistant Professor of Theatre specializing in theatre technology and design. He serves as the Technical Director and Production Manager for the Greensboro College Theatre Department. 

 He received his MFA in Design from Indiana University, with a specialization in Lighting Design and secondary study in Theatre Technology. Robert has taught at the college level since 2003 and has served as faculty and staff at the University level in several capacities. He has designed lighting, sound, scenery and projections throughout his career, spanning more than 120 productions. In addition to designing, he has served as Technical Director for more than 90 productions.  Some of Robert’s most memorable design work includes lighting designs for sight-specific productions of “The Nutcracker Suite” and “Dracula” for the Newport Contemporary Ballet Company (formerly Island Moving Company). Rob has also designed Opera (La Boheme, Romeo & Juliet) as well as a range of traditional and musical theatre productions. 

In addition to his design and educational career, Robert has worked in the private sector as a lighting system integration specialist. In this role, he supported consultants, construction teams, and installers with technical expertise and design coordination for new construction and renovation projects, as well as designing user-interface controls and system programming.  

Rob has been a panel member on the subject of “Simple machines in Theatre Technology” at USITT and has presented design workshops at state theatre conferences in Louisiana and Alabama.  He has been recognized for design excellence by KC-ACTF (Shakespeare’s R&J, You Can’t Take It with You).  Rob has taught a wide range of courses over the length of his teaching career including topics such as Lighting Design & Technology, Sound Design, Stagecraft, Scene Design, Stage Management, Introduction to the Theatre, CAD for the Stage and Advanced Stagecraft.

Joshua currently studies astrodynamics at Virginia Tech University and is an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. Candidate.
