B.F.A. in Sculpture
Sculpture is an ever-expanding field of artistic study. This major is intended for students interested in conveying their ideas visually in modes ranging from object-making, spatial installations, public art and social practices, site-specific interventions, and many more approaches between and beyond.
Students are encouraged to develop an understanding of their artwork in the context of the contemporary world and with the help of a liberal arts grounding, they should explore the ways diverse influences can shape their ideas and visual language. Students learn the basics of working with 3D form and begin creating with materials that are easy to manipulate in the foundations courses. They will expand their material and technical knowledge by learning processes which include, working in wood, metal, fabric, plastic, clay, found materials and the environment.
Opportunities will be available to explore beyond the tangible processes of the sculpture studio to include elements such as light, sound, video, and interaction.
