Greensboro College Opera Workshop Presents “The Gondoliers” Nov. 3-4
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College’s Opera Workshop presents Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera “The Gondoliers,” 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4, in Gail Brower Huggins Performance Center in Odell Building on campus.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and may be reserved by calling Cathy Jansen at 336-272-7102, ext. 5242.
The opera focuses on the fictional kingdom of Barataria, where the heir to the throne was mixed up as a child with the son of a gondolier. The heir’s bride arrives in Venice for the wedding just as the king of Barataria dies, so the two sons must rule jointly until the nurse of the prince can be brought in to determine which man should become king.
