About Greensboro
The big city in your own backyard
There’s so much to do day and night in the city of Greensboro, and you’ll have it all right in your own backyard.
Entertainment at Every Corner
Within walking distance or a short drive from campus, you’ll find great shopping, restaurants, entertainment and the hopping nightlife of downtown Greensboro, the third-largest city in North Carolina.
Wander through the vintage shops on Elm Street. Hit the Food Truck Festival with your friends. Catch a local band at one of our live music venues. See a Broadway show at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. Cheer on the Greensboro Grasshoppers minor-league baseball team (affiliated with Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates). Plus, you’ll have access to great internship opportunities with area businesses.
Beyond Downtown
We are home to the International Civil Rights Center & Museum and an award-winning network of municipal parks.
The Downtown Greenway, a 4-mile walking/bike path that encircles downtown Greensboro, is nearing completion and passes just along our campus’s eastern edge.
The J. Douglas Galyon Downtown Depot on East Washington Street can connect you with local and intercity buses, and you can easily take a day trip by Amtrak train to Raleigh or Charlotte, or ride the Southern Crescent north to Washington, D.C., or south to New Orleans.
Piedmont Triad International Airport can connect you with flights anywhere in the world.
Weekend Getaways
Greensboro is two hours away from the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains and just three hours away from one of the nation’s most beautiful coastlines.
Stay busy during breaks, or take a weekend trip with friends to explore the great outdoors – a new adventure is just a few hours away.
