Licensure Plus Master of Arts in Teaching for TESOL 

Greensboro College offers the Licensure Plus Master of Arts in Teaching for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The program prepares teachers to work with K-12 students for whom English is a second language.

Licensure Coursework

The Licensure Plus MAT is divided into two steps. Step One leads to N.C. Standard Professional 1 license. Students may stop at Step One or complete Step Two for only 15 more hours of coursework and earn the “M” license and Master of Arts in Teaching degree in TESOL.

The program can be completed online or as a hybrid program. Courses are offered during the fall, spring, and Summer I semesters. An optional, five-week, face-to-face session runs from late June through July.


Admissions

Requirements for admission include:

  • Official transcripts from all accredited institutions attended.
  • 3.0 cumulative grade-point average
  • Submission of two letters of recommendation
  • Submission of an essay
