Dr. Jessica Sharpe
Dr. Sharpe received her BA in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Ph.D. in Physiology from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. She then completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Radiation Oncology at Wake Forest School of Medicine, investigating signaling pathways to inhibit apoptosis and reduce radiation nephropathy. After joining the faculty of Greensboro College in 2007, Dr. Sharpe translated her passion for research into teaching in the classroom and laboratory and helping advise honors students through the thesis process. In 2009, she received the Virginia Clark Gray teaching award, and in 2015, she received the Alumni Teaching Award. Dr. Sharpe served as Director of George Center for Honors Studies, the Founding Dean of the School of Sciences and Mathematics, and is currently the Dean of the Faculty. She enjoys outdoor adventures with her family, NPR, and walking with friends and her hound dog.
