Greensboro College Chapter of Sociology Honor Society Inducts New Members
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College’s chapter of the Alpha Kappa Delta national honor society in sociology has inducted three undergraduate members and a faculty member.
The undergraduate inductees are:
- Kristen Wright, a senior sociology major from Greensboro, N.C.
- Shayla Moss, a senior sociology major from Cary, N.C.
- Alexus Hatchett, a senior sociology major from Wake Forest, N.C.
Nicolás Eilbaum, a visiting assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice, was inducted as a faculty member. Eilbaum joined the Greensboro College faculty in 2017. He holds a B.A. from the University of Buenos Aires and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University.
Alpha Kappa Delta was founded in 1920 at the University of Southern California and now has more than 650 chapters. It is affiliated with the American Sociological Society. Greensboro College’s Omicron chapter was established in 1991.
Inductees must be a declared sociology major or have a demonstrated interest in sociology; be at least a junior; rank in the top 35% of their academic class; and have completed at least four sociology classes at the institution with a grade-point average in those courses of 3.0 or better.
Greensboro College provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.
Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and four master’s degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features an 18-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.
