Greensboro College Extends Spring Break Through March 22 to Minimize Spread of Coronavirus

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College has extended its spring break for an additional week, through March 22, to try to minimize spread of the coronavirus.

The extension also will allow college faculty and staff to better prepare for moving instruction online if necessary and will minimize having large numbers of students back on campus.

Staff will be on campus as usual; faculty will be preparing for a possible move to online-only courses after March 22 if conditions warrant such a move.

With the exception of students already authorized to be on campus during spring break – primarily student-athletes and student teachers — no students will be permitted in the residence halls before 12 noon Sunday, March 22, to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, the disease the virus causes.

Meal service for students already authorized to stay on campus will begin with dinner on Sunday, March 15. The Cafeteria will serve brunch and dinner daily during the week of March 16-22.

Extension of spring break could affect a number of college events currently scheduled for the week of March 16, including some open to the public. The college will make an announcement after Thursday morning’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Team (CERT) meeting regarding them.
