Greensboro College Features Business Speaker on Time Management Jan. 30
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Thomas A. Gorry will speak on “”Time Management: Planning Our Thoughts” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in 214 Proctor Hall East as part of the course “Leadership Fitness,” being taught by Greensboro College’s School of Business.
The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
Gorry served from 2016 to 2017 as president of the Marine Corps University, an educational institution that teaches 72,000 resident and non-resident students across campuses worldwide.
Previously, he had been commandant of the Dwight D. Eisenhower School at the National Defense University in Washington D.C. from 2013 to 2016. That institution awards a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy to military and civilian professionals from across the Department of Defense, partner nations, and other government agencies.
From 2011 to 2013 he was commanding general for Marine Corps Installations East, overseeing such issues as base security, tenant housing, commercial business, and emergency response for the seven Marine Corps installations on the East Coast.
Previously, he had been director of the Marine Corps Staff and Command College at Marine Corps University, leading a 10-month, graduate-level education and training program designed to develop critical thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and ethical decision-makers.
He also has been an adjunct faculty member, teaching such subjects as business administration, business management, finance, military strategy, security studies, and leadership at the Marine Corps University, Park University, N.C. Wesleyan College, and Embry-Riddle University.
He holds a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Master of Science degrees from Central Michigan University, Webster University, and National Defense University in Administration, Business Administration, and National Security Strategy, respectively; and a Ph.D. in management from Walden University. He lives in Raleigh.
