Greensboro College Honors More Than Two Dozen Students with Academic Prizes and Scholarships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College today honored 31 students with 32 academic achievement awards and scholarships in its annual Academic Awards Convocation.

The prizes and winners were:

Dr. and Mrs. S. Laws Parks Accounting Award: Alma Olivia Francis, a senior accounting major from Greensboro, N.C.
Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Accounting: Callum James Cordell, a senior accounting major from Chapel Hill, N.C.
Clara Dougherty Brown Art Award: Meegan Ann McCarthy, a senior psychology and art major from Loudon, N.H.
Arnold Van Pelt Biology Award: Katelyn Marie Clark, a senior biology major from Gilbert, Ariz.
Fred L. and Myrtle R. Proctor Endowed Scholarship Award: Hannah Taylor Joyce, a junior Business Administration & Economics major Pleasant Garden, N.C.
Academic Achievement in Business Award: Jorge Luis Cortez-Becerra, a junior Business Administration & Economics major from High Point, N.C.
Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Business: Sarah Elizabeth Bailey, a senior Business Administration & Economics major from Stokesdale, N.C.
Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Business: Erynne Nicole Chalk, a senior Business Administration and Economics major from Hickory, N.C.
Harriet Darlene Medina Scholarship Award: Raven Alexandra Green, a sophomore biology major from Greensboro, N.C.
Zelda C. Pemberton Education Award: Caroline Amanda Meisner, a senior theatre education major from Lutz, Fla.
Leroy Lee Smith Memorial Award: Antonio Gregory Cruz-Hernandez, a sophomore Business Administration & Economics major from Youngstown, Ohio
Mary L. Ginn Award for Excellence in English: Benedict Andrew Burgess, a senior theatre/acting and English major from Earlysville, Va.
Olena S. Bunn Achievement Award in English: Philip Robert Deutsch, a senior English & Communication Studies major from Greensboro, N.C.
Marvin L. Skaggs History Award: Alla Ahmed Alaghbri, a senior religion/history major from High Point, N.C.
David Caldwell “Log College” Scholarship: Gwyneth Frances Navey, a junior history/political science major from Florence, S.C.
Mayo C. Harlow III Health Sciences Award: Devin Marie D’Agostin, a junior Health Sciences major from Morrisville, N.C.
Randy Hunt Exercise and Sport Studies Award: Madison Kate Karch, a junior Exercise & Sport Study major from Frederick, Md.
Willie Taylor Health and Physical Education Award: Jacob Lee Strader, a senior Health/Physical Education major from Reidsville, N.C.
Athletic Training Award: Kaitlyn Jean Jackson, a senior athletic training major from Baltimore, Md.
Myrtis Davis Scholarship Award: Samantha Claudine Whipp, a sophomore mathematics education major from Montgomery Village, Md.

Luella Pugh Knott Music Award: Patrick Jaleel King, a senior music major from Knightdale, N.C.
Jazz Ensemble Award: Nicholas Michael Michaels, a junior music major from Greensboro, N.C.
Distinguished Psychology Student Award: Emily Ann Lewis, a senior psychology and sociology major from Fredericksburg, Va.
Hardee Christian Service Award: Abigail Elizabeth Bügger, a senior religion and Liberal Studies major from Raleigh, N.C.
Distinguished Sociology Student Award: Anna Rachel Tilles, a senior sociology major from High Point, N.C.
Isabelle Reedy Powell Sociology Merit Scholarship Award: Decima Alexcia Michael, a junior sociology major from Greensboro, N.C.
Alpha Chi Award: Hannah Leigh Clayton, a senior athletic training major from Willow Spring, N.C.
Collegian Excellence Award: Gwyneth Frances Navey, a junior history/political science major from Florence, S.C.
