Greensboro College Honors Students with Academic Achievement Awards (4/24/2017)
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College has honored more than 30 students with academic achievement awards in various disciplines during its annual academic awards convocation.
The awards and their winners are:
- Clara Dougherty Brown Art Award: Darrah M. Roberson, a senior art major from Greensboro, N.C.
- Regina Mouw Scholarship Award in Art: Antony Ramon Thomas, a freshman art major from Dry Fork, Va.
- Arnold Van Pelt Biology Award: Kali Lea Puckett, a senior biology major from Oxford, N.C.
- Fred L. and Myrtle R. Proctor Endowed Scholarship Award in Business: Max Elliott Jenks-Gilbert, a junior business administration and economics major from Colwyn Bay, U.K.
- Academic Achievement in Business Award: Sarah Elizabeth Bailey, a sophomore business administration and economics major from Stokesdale, N.C.
- Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Business: Kelsey Morgan Cenate, a senior business administration and economics and exercise and sport study major from Greensboro, N.C.
- Zelda C. Pemberton Education Award: Briana Kathleen Fonseca, a senior music education major from Cameron, N.C., and LaRinda Redd Neal, a senior elementary-education major from Stoneville, N.C.
- Proctor Special Education Scholarship: Allison Rene Killette, a junior special-education major from Whitsett, N.C.
- Leroy Lee Smith Memorial English Award: Adelaide Leigh Elliott, a junior English and Communication Studies and sociology/cultural studies major from Walnut Cove, N.C.
- Leroy Lee Smith Memorial English Award: Timothy Samuel Crowell, a sophomore psychology major from Pinnacle, N.C.
- Mary L. Ginn Award for Excellence in English: Savannah Yvonne Bowen, a senior English and Communication Studies major from Greensboro, N.C.
- Marvin L. Skaggs History Award: Paul Matthew Freeman, a senior history major from Winston-Salem N.C.
- Mayo C. Harlow III Athletic Training Award: Rachael Elizabeth Hamilton, a senior athletic training major from Anderson, S.C.
- Outstanding Student in Exercise and Sport Studies Award: Amanda Jo Ballard, a senior exercise and sport studies/exercise science major from Mebane N.C.
- Willie Taylor Health and Physical Education Award: Olivia Grace Masaitis, a senior health/physical education major from Culpepper, Va.
- Myrtis Davis Scholarship Award in Mathematics: Joshua Taylor Fitzgerald, a junior mathematics major from Elon, N.C.
- Blanche Burrus Piano Scholarship: Natalie Danielle Craven, a freshman K-12 music education major from Asheboro N.C.
- Hunt Family Music Scholarship: Jonah Benjamin Springs, a junior K-12 music education major from Stokesdale, N.C.
- Hunt Family Music Scholarship: Davis Lane Cahill, a senior K-12 music education and liberal studies major from Pleasant Garden, N.C.
- Luella Pugh Knott Music Award: Briana Kathleen Fonseca, a senior music education major from Cameron, N.C.

- Hardee Christian Service Award: Matthew Graham Monroe, a senior religion major from Greensboro, N.C.
- Thelma Dixon Taylor Religion Scholarship: Abigail Elizabeth Bügger, a junior religion and sociology/human services major from Raleigh, N.C.
- Distinguished Sociology Student Award: Andrew T. Mails,. a senior sociology major from Greensboro, N.C.
- Alpha Chi Award (all-around academic excellence): Briana Kathleen Fonseca, a senior music education major from Cameron, N.C.
- Collegian Excellence Award in print journalism: Savannah Yvonne Bowen, a senior English and Communication Studies major from Greensboro, N.C., and Amanda Victoria Owens, a senior sociology/cultural studies major from Greensboro, N.C.
