Greensboro College Names Colleen Colby Associate Director of Its Global Communication Center
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College has named Colleen Colby the associate director of its First Citizens Bank Global Communication Center, now under construction in the college’s James Addison Jones Library.
In that role, she will oversee day-to-day the services to be offered by the center, which include assistance in writing, speaking, and composing in a variety of digital media. The center, on the library’s garden level, is scheduled for completion later this year.
The center was recommended in 2017 by the college’s Degree Completion Task Force. It was made possible by a grant from First Citizens Bank, the college’s banking partner, and money from a competitive Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education that the college was awarded in October.
The five-year, $1.93 million grant targets the center and a number of other Greensboro College initiatives to increase the college’s graduation rate. Title III grants are intended to help colleges and universities serve low-income students.
Colby holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo, an M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a J.D. from the University of New York at Buffalo. She joined the part-time faculty in 2011 as an adjunct instructor of English and of legal administration and also has been lead written and oral communications consultant since 2012.
