Greensboro College Names Tasha M. Myers Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College has named Tasha M. Myers to the new position of director of diversity, equity and inclusion.
In that role, she will be working with students, faculty and staff to develop a more inclusive community through student advocacy, education, and programming. Her overall goal is to increase student success and sense of belonging for underrepresented and/or marginalized students.
Myers will also direct day-to-day operations of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Center once the renovations are complete in the college’s Student Center.
The position is being created with money from a five-year, $1.93 million federal Title III grant, the largest such grant Greensboro College ever has been awarded.
Such grants help colleges expand resources to increase student retention and persistence to graduation and are primarily targeted toward low-income students.
Myers brings more than 10 years of experience in higher education consulting and administrative positions focusing on community building. In particular, she has mentored and advised organizations affirming identities of students of color and other marginalized populations.
Previously, she had been a faculty instructor and brand manager at Cultural Connections by Design, a diversity education and consulting company.
Prior to that, she had been the inaugural director of student leadership and involvement in the Office of the Dean of Students at the University of Utah, where she was a member of the Presidential Anti-Racism Task Force and oversaw student government, the Leadership Studies Minor, programming, and student organizations.
She also has worked in student-affairs positions at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Spelman College, and the University of Georgia.
She holds a B.A. in Public and Cultural Community from the University of South Florida and an M.Ed. in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia. She currently is a Ph.D. candidate in Leadership Studies at N.C. A&T State University.
