Greensboro College Offers College Essay Boot Camp Aug. 5-8

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College will offer a four-day program to teach rising high-school seniors how to write better college-entrance essays.

The College Essay Boot Camp will be held 9 a.m.-12 noon Monday-Thursday, Aug. 5-8. Cost is $249.

The program, limited to rising seniors ages 17-18, is designed to give participants a jump-start on the college essay-writing process. Lectures and discussion will focus on how to write a successful college essay.

Students will focus on actual prompts and draft essays for college applications. Throughout the week, students will spend blocks of time writing and revising their essays in a workshop setting.

Students will:

Learn the role the essay plays in the college admissions process as well as how to leverage the college essay to complement their applications.
Develop an understanding of how to write an effective college essay and apply those techniques to craft their own essays.
Build the skills needed to respond to a variety of prompts that may be included on the college application.
Enjoy having focused time to write and revise their essays, so they can get a head start on the application process.
