Greensboro College Presents Photography Exhibit “The World Around Me” Through Feb. 28
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College Department of Art presents the photography exhibit “The World Around Me,” by Megan Clapp ’06, through Feb. 28 in the Anne Rudd Galyon Gallery in the Cowan Humanities Building on campus.
The event is free, and the public is invited. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
“I see art in the world around me,” Clapp says in her artist’s statement. “Art is all around us if we take a moment to stop and see it before the moment passes. It’s about finding the moments to capture. Capturing life as it happens with the camera that’s always on me and fits in my back pocket — my cell phone.”
Clapp was an art major with a concentration in photography at Greensboro College, where she also played soccer for four years and received the Craven E. Williams Scholar Athlete Award.
Years after graduation, she returning to the college to work in the Department of Financial Aid. She currently is membership and marketing manager for the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA. Her work appeared in the 2018 calendar of Hospice of Randolph County. She and her husband, Tyler, also a 2006 Greensboro College graduate in art, live in Liberty, N.C., with their children, Riley and Boston.
Greensboro College’s Department of Art offers the B.A. or B.S. in Art and the B.A. in Art Education.
The program, with individual attention to students, combines classic art principles with the liberal-arts foundations of diverse branches of inquiry, including both science and the humanities, so that students can incorporate as much of the world as possible into their own art-making.
