Greensboro College Student Wins Honorable Mention at Honors Symposium

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College junior Timothy Crowell received an Honorable Mention for his presentation at a recent symposium in Greensboro.

Crowell, a psychology and English & Communication Studies major from Pinnacle, N.C., presented on his thesis prospectus, “Hollywood Therapy: The Portrayal of Mental Health Professionals in American Films from 2010 to 2017.”

Crowell was among seven students from Greensboro College’s George Center for Honors Studies who made presentations at the 19th Annual Undergraduate Honors Symposium, sponsored by the Lloyd International Honors College at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

For the second straight year the college had seven students’ proposals accepted by the symposium, tying a school record.

The George Center for Honors Studies offers students a four-year, team-taught, interdisciplinary program culminating in a senior thesis or capstone project displaying research and learning above and beyond requirements for graduation.
