Greensboro College Theatre Presents Student Cabaret April 19
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College Theatre presents an evening of student-written and –performed cabaret, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in Lea Center in Main Building on campus.
Admission is free, and the public is invited.
The program consists of four cabaret pieces, each written and performed by a student in the Theatre Department’s cabaret class. They are:
- “The Diary of a Chubby Musical Theatre Major,” by Emily Parker, a senior theatre major from Pinehurst, N.C.
- “Call Me Allie,” by Allie Cipoletti, a sophomore theatre major from Eden, N.C.
- “Livin’ for Myself,” by Crystal Rothrock, a freshman theatre and theatre-education major from Winston-Salem, N.C.
- “Boys,” by Lewis Truman Elliott, a sophomore theatre major from Pensacola, Fla.
All four students are enrolled in the Theatre Department’s musical-theatre emphasis.
Greensboro College’s Department of Theatre seeks to provide a strong foundation in theatre while allowing the student to emphasize in a particular area such as directing, acting, or arts administration.
The coursework is integrated with the production work to provide a better understanding of the many facets of the theatre. Required participation on stage or backstage on all theatre productions allows the techniques and theories that are examined in the classroom and the laboratory to be tested in a performance setting.
