GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three senior art majors at Greensboro College will be exhibiting their work April 4-May 10 in the Anne Rudd Galyon and Irene Cullis galleries in Cowan Humanities Building on campus.

A reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the galleries. Normal gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

Those presenting are:

  • Meegan McCarthy, “End the Stigma,” black-and-white photographs of 13 individuals with developmental disabilities
  • MaKayla Humphreys, “Yesteryear,” installation, acrylic, watercolor paintings, pencil, and charcoal drawings intended to conjure the illusion of the artist’s family’s farm and rural Randolph County life.
  • McKenzie Lester, “On the Road Again,” 12 black-and-white images, both 35mm film and digital, of abandoned and semi-abandoned railroad structures around North Carolina.

Greensboro College’s Department of Art offers the B.A. or B.S. in Art and the B.A. in Art Education.

The program, with individual attention to students, combines classic art principles with the liberal-arts foundations of diverse branches of inquiry, including both science and the humanities, so that students can incorporate as much of the world as possible into their own art-making.

“I loved the GC Honors program and Greensboro College. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”

- Joshua Fitzgerald, Class of ’19, Mathematics Major

Joshua currently studies astrodynamics at Virginia Tech University and is an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. Candidate.
